ModelCon 2022 - National Competition
The first weekend of October heralded the first national modelling competition in over three years, and was hosted by IPMS Dunedin. Held in the Hutton Theatre at Otago Museum the event was finely organised and well attended by both participants and public. It was awesome to see every NZ club represented by the models on tables, which themselves were stunning and of an extremely high calibre, an obvious result of weeks of uninterrupted modelling time through multiple lockdowns for many.
In an 'almost replay' of the last South Island Champs Zane Purdom took out the top honours once again - Best In Show with his superb Charge Of the Light Brigade diorama, and also BIS Runner-up for his 1862 American Civil war vignette. Our very own Herb secured a Best in Class (Ships) with his beautiful 1/144 scale submarine. Congratulations to everyone - winners, participants, and hosts! It was certainly a very memorable weekend. Well done people!
