Inter Club Champs, St Patricks Church workshop venue, 28th July 2013
By 11:30am a fair crowd of modelling enthusiasts had congregated, and an even fairer number of models had appeared on the tables, making the debut of the Southern Inter-Club Championship competition an exciting and memorable event. Over the course of the afternoon food was consumed, merriment was had, and even a little scrutinising of models by two rather capable teams of scrutineers was done!
Overall the standard of wares on the table was very high, but alas there could be only one so worthy of the virgin trophy! And fittingly the accolade was bestowed upon our humble club president,- Lester. But the winning didn't stop there. Spot prizes in the form of new kitsets were randomly passed out to various participants, and then the people's voting forms were collected and counted, and coming up trumps for the Peoples Choice Award was Rob's beautiful scratchbuilt steampunk-inspired "Lightning Generator".
So, congratulations to the winners and in fact, to all our club members who participated in this fun little quick-fire competition. To see so many new models on the table was truly inspiring, and it has been unanimously agreed that the event was a roaring success. The Southern Interclub Championship trophy is set to become a prestigious and coveted prize, one that should inspire plastic modellers of all shapes and makes to get busy and get building!
