VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
The success of any show relies significantly on the energy and generosity of club members, locally, and from further afield. If you would like to help with any duties or tasks over the weekend please fill in the form below and hit submit.
DUTIES
Over the course of the weekend there will be “stations” that need to be manned throughout, and positions of responsibility that will require the generous goodwill of many.
Setting Up
Helping hands will be required to set up tables, stands, and cordons from 10 o’clock on Friday morning (11th Oct.) ready to receive models. In due course a plan of the room space will be made available detailing the proposed layout. Competition and Display Only entries are to be grouped in their respective classes where possible.
Special Displays
This will require a “creative” team of no more than five people, responsible for designing, procuring props, and on the Friday (11th) constructing the BIG SCREEN SMALL SCREEN display, the D-Day Anniversary display, and the POWER OF STEAM display. This team will also be responsible for coordinating and guiding model entries to their appropriate destination.
The Door
This station requires a minimum of two people on hand at all times, except Saturday morning, which is traditionally the busiest time and may require three people. It is not expected that the same two or three volunteers remain at this station for the whole weekend, but preferably take shifts with a variety of club members. Door staff will be responsible for:
Modelling Demonstrations
There will be designated tables set up with cutting mats and desk lamps for members to toil away on their own models at their own leisure, and perhaps chat to the viewing public. With two “stations” provided it is hoped that there will be two modellers working at any given time over the weekend. This job is more “fun” than “chore” and has great potential to allow considerable progress on one’s own projects!
Judging Teams
Under the guidance of the Master Chief Judge it is hoped that several teams of three club members can be formed to take on the auspicious challenge of rating all the competition pieces. Each team will have a lead judge who has had experience judging previous competitions at this level. Judging is not an evil job but one that can be very enlightening for most hobbyists. Ideally there should be no less than three teams, and, where those teams are concerned, the task should only take a few hours to complete.
